The Southbank Centre commissioned Ten4 to design and build the supporting site for their 'Festival Brazil' summer campaign. Bringing the vibrant, dynamic culture of contemporary Brazil to the heart of London, Festival Brazil celebrated the country's rich cultural heritage including music, visual arts, dance, literature, debates and food.
Ten4 created three individual microsites highlighting the major events and the two main exhibitions from the festival 'Ernesto Neto' and 'The New Decor'. Each of the microsites was unified by a common design and universal navigation, this consistent layout and design allowed users to seamlessly navigate between the festival's microsites whilst allowing each of the microsites to retain their own visual identity.
The microsites feature a range of content including details of all events / exhibitions taking place during the festival (pulled through from the Southbank Centre's own website via RSS), downloadable audio tours, artist profiles, visitor information and videos highlighting aspects of the installations including two specially commissioned time-lapses created by Ten4.
To drive visitors to the Southbank Centre we promoted the main Ernesto Neto exhibition by inviting visitors to send photos from the exhibition via MMS (Multimedia Messaging) to the website, providing their own perspective of the exhibition. The image was then instantly added to an online gallery on the Ernesto Neto microsite for other visitors to see, encouraging them to make their own visit.
We also created an online summer postcard generator, feeding in images of visitors to a temporary photo booth on the Southbank. Visitors were then invited to customise their photo with Festival Brazil themed drag and drop items and create a postcard by writing a message and sharing it with their family and friends through e-mail and popular social networks. A password protected stats panel provided a detailed breakdown on usage such as number of photos collected per day, postcards generated and postcards opened.
The 'Festival Brazil' microsite confidently delivered our summer messaging, successfully housing multiple standalone sites together under a single cohesive summer campaign. It also delivered great traffic referrals and high levels of engagement for our users. Trish Thomas, Digital Marketing Manager, Southbank Centre
