Will Young’s online history with Ten4

RSS

We've worked with Will on all sorts of innovative and exciting projects since we first met back in 2005. His career to date has seen him portray an Olympic swimming champion, caped crusader, Blue Peter Presenter, top gun pilot and an art gallery maniac to name a few. Over the years our digital work has proved equally as diverse.

Little Will

Our first project together involved creating some interactive custom footage for the header of his first website. The artwork and stage set for Will’s 'Live in London' tour had a very theatrical theme, which we wanted to reflect in the site. Ten4's brainstorm resulted in the concept of 'Little Will' where animated headers form the stage for him to perform different party tricks. We invited Will to the studio to shoot some footage on green screen and discover if he had any hidden talents; as it turned out Will was a lot better at yoyo than shuffling cards! Users were able to click on different areas to reveal the custom footage. Fans loved the idea and we were inundated with requests for similar concepts.

Will is very open to creative ideas and for his next project our brief was to create a series of site headers that reflect the quality of a high-end fashion shoot. We story boarded some different concepts which ranged from throwing confetti, giving him the bumps to smashing records. We hired a high-speed video camera to produce ultra slow motion footage and spent the day in the studio. This resulted in the following series of triptych looping video headers:

MICROSITES

Along side his main sites we've built numerous microsites to promote various tours and single releases. To coincide with the release of the single 'Who Am I' Will produced a Blue Peter themed video. Our microsite took the form of the Blue Peter set along with various games including a 'Dress your own Will', charity will-o-meter, even a wandering tortoise. Fans were able to dress Will and submit to a gallery, which proved very popular with thousands of fans creating their own designs over the period of the release.

'Who Am I' Microsite

The Tour Cave from 2006 saw Will take on the role of a game show host. The microsite contained lots of animated game show references such as a 'wheel of fortune' and exclusive footage and photos from the tour.

VIDEO SHOOTS

We have access to a 2500 sq foot studio below our office that we've used for a wide range of video and photo shoots from music artists to TV celebrities including Will Young, Davina McCall, Newton Falkner, Pixie Lott and Ant & Dec. Over the years the studio has proved invaluable, enabling us to experiment with photography and video for online use.
